The News Agencies World Council is aimed at consolidating the entity that gathers the world agencies and endeavors the celebration of the World Congresses every three years.

The President of EFE agency, Alex Grijelmo, was elected President of News Agencies World Council in the II World Congress of News Agencies held in Estepona (Málaga), October 24th to 27th, 2007. 
EFE President and current President of the Council, succeeded to the General Director Vitaly Ignatenko from ITAR-TASS. Mr. Grijelmo will be a president of News Agencies World Council until the due date of the next World Congress to be held in the city of Bariloche, Río Negro from October 20th to 22nd, 2010.
